Advocacy & Coalition Work

At the Housing Rights Committee of San Francisco (HRCSF), our advocacy and coalition work are vital to transforming tenant protections in San Francisco and beyond. We collaborate closely with community networks and coalitions to support and pass legislation that defends tenant rights while resisting laws that favor corporate landlords and developers. Our advocacy efforts push for meaningful changes in housing policy that prioritize the needs of tenants and marginalized communities.

With deep roots in the fight against systemic displacement in San Francisco, we have historically partnered with organizations such as Homes for All, Tenants Together, Right to the City, San Francisco Anti-Displacement Coalition (SFADC), and the Regional Tenant Organizing Network. These collaborations allow us to amplify our collective power and ensure we create lasting, systemic change in housing policy. Through these alliances, we work tirelessly to shift the housing narrative and secure policies that protect tenants on a broader scale.

Our Coalitions

Regional Tenant Organizing Network

Homes for All California

As an anchor organization of Homes for All California, HRCSF join 18 other base building organizations to strengthen tenant power across Ca . This partnership allows us to scale existing organizing efforts and strategically focus on areas with high tenant density, increasing tenant protections, preventing displacement, and mobilizing a political force across California.

Tenants Together

This statewide organization helps coordinate tenant rights campaigns, building a powerful network of tenant unions and organizations across California.

Right to the City

By connecting with this national movement, we work alongside grassroots organizations advocating for housing justice and tenant rights at the national level.

Race & Equity in All Planning Coalitions (REP-SF)

Dozens of grassroots organizations from across San Francisco have come together to form the housing justice coalition, Race & Equity in all Planning (REP-SF). Our mission is to build a future with diverse communities, stable, affordable housing and equitable access to resources and opportunities.

REP-SF envisions a San Francisco that empowers historically marginalized communities in housing justice and equity in land use. We believe that American Indian, Black, and other Communities of color, immigrant, LGBTQ+, low-income and no-income folks, seniors, and people with disabilities should determine our futures.
